About MaxedRig
A site about free games, written for the player who does not intend to spend money.
Why this site exists
« Free-to-play » covers two very different things. Some games are free and generous for hundreds of hours. Others are free for a weekend and then quietly ask you for money every time you open them. From the outside, they look identical — same store page, same price, same trailer.
Most coverage does not separate them, because answering the question properly takes weeks of play on an account that never spends. That is the gap this site is built to fill.
So every review here is written from one seat: a player who will never pay. What can they reach? Where does the game stop being generous? How many hours before the wall? We put a number on it, and we say where the number comes from.
What we publish
| Section | What it answers | Published |
|---|---|---|
| Reviews | Is it worth your time? We play first, score after. | 5 |
| Guides | Start strong and skip the classic mistakes. | 5 |
| News | Patches, seasons and events that change how you play. | 5 |
| Setup | The gear that actually helps, tested for weeks. | 5 |
20 articles so far, covering five games. We would rather cover few games properly than many games from a press kit.
How we choose what to cover
Games people are actually playing or actually being advertised. If a game is spending heavily on acquisition, a lot of people are about to install it without knowing what they are getting into — that is exactly when an honest review is worth something.
We are also transparent about the selection effect money creates: a game with an affiliate programme is more likely to be covered early, because the site has to pay for itself. Ouraffiliate disclosure spells that out.
The method, in one line
Twenty hours minimum on a fresh free account, nothing spent before the score is written, at least two real downsides in every review, and the score locked before any commercial discussion. The full version is on How we test.
How the site pays for itself
Commissions when a reader installs a game through a partner link, and display advertising. Nothing else — no sponsored articles, no paid placements, no paid scores. Details on theaffiliate disclosure page.
